An incredible movement is sweeping America.
In just a few short years, nearly 70 Catholic high schools have burst into existence. They’re part of the same network—and they provide the same excellent education, grounded in faith and reason. Catholic families are flocking to these schools because they’re simply excellent, simply better. And affordable, too.
The organization behind this movement is a unique lay apostolate: The Society of G.K. Chesterton. Its president, Dale Ahlquist, is the guest of our latest Apostolate Spotlight podcast.

This Society is focused on education, evangelization, and the social teaching of the Church. But why is it named after G.K. Chesterton?
The answer: “He foresaw and wrote about the issues we struggle with today: social injustice, the culture of death, the decline of the arts, assaults on religion, and attacks on the family and on the dignity of the human person.”
But the Society’s namesake didn’t just recognize modern problems. He also pointed out the solution. He was, as Dale likes to say, the “apostle of common sense”—about faith, about reason, about leading a principled daily life.
The Society brings this common sense to bear in all its work—especially through the Chesterton Schools Network.
Dale founded the network’s first high school in Minnesota. The vision was simple: A school that “any Catholic parent would want for their children.” He also wanted the school to be affordable, because that’s part of being “pro-life and pro-family.”
All the high schools uphold that vision. As a result, they’re starting and growing at a rapid pace. Dale describes their “integrated curriculum” that prepares students for a life of meaning and mission.
And the schools are defined by their namesake’s spirit. As Dale points out, Chesterton “filled the room with joy,” and “people were drawn to that” and “to his goodness.” These schools train students who can draw people to the truth in the same way.
The Society of G.K. Chesterton has already shaped thousands of young lives through its network of schools. And every year, its influence spreads to more students, more families, and more communities. The Napa Institute is honored to support this movement—and we hope you will do the same.
